For the audition, please be prepared to perform:

• A one-minute monologue with a love theme.

• A verse and a chorus of a ballad. If possible, please bring sheet music for the accompanist and/or a karaoke recording of your song.

• All of the characters sing.

• All actors will be paid.

Rehearsals: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in May and June

 

Performance Dates: July 3 through August 2 - Thursday, Friday, Saturday @ 7 pm; Sunday @ 2 pm.

Characters to be cast: 

• Joey (10-14): younger brother, fighting for the right to be taken seriously and to be loved.

• Aunt Rose (40-60): Mama’s sister, irreverent, spirited, outspoken and funny

• Laura (18-22): older daughter, streetwise, unfiltered, strong-willed survivor, passionate, volatile, impulsive

• Estelle (25-40): a club dancer. She’s so in love with love that’s all she can see. Herman’s love interest.

• Freddie (30-60): Bookie with Mob affiliations, threatening, violent, ruthless

• Johnny (18-24): is surviving a violent homelife, strong, ethical and passionate

• Manny (18-22): a hard-working young mechanic that plays by the rules
