From Burlesque to Brachiopods: There’s Something for Everyone at Actors’ Theatre!
For the ones who like it hot, Best Coast Burlesque brings their bodacious and bawdy mix of burlesque and variety to the intimate black box of Actors' Theatre for two shows on July 29th, at 6 and 9 pm. Hosted by Alotta Boutté, and featuring performances by Vyxen Monroe, Valerie Veils, Rizzo Rogue, Regina O’Hara, Franzia Rosé, Cherry Cola, Carolina Peach, and Babraham Lincoln. Tickets are $25 and are available at EventBrite.
We’re excited to be able to offer the Actors’ Theatre space as a venue for other talented performers and performing arts groups. If you’re looking for a theater for your next project, check out our Rent the Theater page for more info!
For some family-friendly fun, check out Fascinated by Fossils, our very first “First Friday” event on August 4th. We’ll be hosting the Paleontologists of the Past, an ensemble of actors and teachers portraying famous 19th-century scientists who will explain what was known in their time about fossils, dinosaurs and the age of the earth. Meet Sir Richard Owens, Rev. William Buckland, Mary Anning and others at this hands-on chance to learn about and examine a large collection of fossils. Ongoing from 5 to 9 pm. Visit the First Friday website to plan your evening’s art adventure!
The 36North series of monthly readings of new full-length original works continues on August 4th, with Ink Leaving the Brush by Spike Wong. Readings are on Monday evenings at 7 pm, followed by a talkback session with the playwright, director and actors. This is a great chance to see theater in the making, and give your input to the author. Admission is free, although donations at the door are gratefully accepted. See the full schedule of upcoming readings HERE.
And—drumroll please—we’ll be announcing our 23/24 season soon. Stay tuned!
