Summer Happenings at Actors' Theatre
June starts our mellower summer season, but there are still plenty of things to check out!
Passion, Rhythm and Dance
The excitement and passion of Flamenco comes to Santa Cruz on Saturday, June 1.
Featuring singer Roberto Zamora and Roberto Aguilar on guitar. Special guest dancer Bianca Rodriguez has performed with Flamenco companies Yjastros, Juan Siddi, and EntreFlamenco, as well as Grammy winner Antonio Rey for his show, Dos Partes de Mi, along with Mara Rey in 2019, and in José del Tomates álbum debut Plaza Vieja in 2020. See Bianca along with dancers Vanessa Bell, Maria Soledad Sanches and Mimi Wiener Mishor bring this passionate art form up close and personal on the stage at Actors' Theatre. Show starts at 6:30 pm.

Voice Workshop and More
Learn to appreciate your personal voice as a multi-dimensional channel for art and life.
Voice specialist Joanna Cazden has taught at CalArts, American Academyof Dramatic Art, several CSU campuses, and teacher-training programs across the US and UK. She was the senior voice therapist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s Voice Clinic, Los Angeles, treating injured actors and singers, and her book “Everyday Voice Care: The Lifestyle Guide” (Hal Leonard) is in wide use in arts conservatories. Join her for four evening sessions that will expand your repertoire of warmups and help you rediscover the fundamentals of technique and vocal wellness. Mondays, June 3, 10, 17 & Tuesday, June 25 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Still a few slots left! Sign up HERE.
We will also be offering more workshops with the amazing Bill Peters and hope to bring San Francisco director Bruce Avery and playwright and theater-maker Lana Palmer back for another two-day acting intensive later this summer and into the fall.
36North Brings Brand New Plays to the Stage
Come see theater in the making and give your input to the author.
Building on last summer's successful run, playwrights' collective 36North presents another monthly series of play readings of new works from talented local playwrights on Monday evenings at 7 pm. Readings are followed by a talkback session with the playwright, director and actors. The series will start with "Neighbors" by Steven Capasso on June 24. Admission is free, although donations at the door are cheerfully accepted.
